Mother's Day Ideas

Mother's Day is right around the corner, and technology provides a fun way to help your students celebrate their moms!  Keep reading for some fun and easy Mother's Day project ideas.
Make a word cloud!  Mr. Kane from McKinley shared this idea when we were in TILT together.  He has his students write words that make them think of their moms, and then type them into a word cloud generator to make a keepsake for the moms.  There are tons of great word cloud generators, but one I like to use for this project is Tagul, which allows students to make their word clouds into shapes (like a heart)!
You can also use the site Read, Write, Think to generate theme poems about moms, using this same general idea.  Read, Write, Think also has a free iPad app called Theme Poems.
I love this idea from the Soaring Through Second blog!  Create a background like this, then take photos or make videos of your students in front of the background, telling why they love their moms! Click the image to read her blog post about this project.
Another fun idea is to use a storytelling app like ScribblePress Deluxe, Adobe Voice, Book Creator or Shadow Puppets Edu to have students tell a story about their moms.  Consider using a template like the one found by clicking the image below, and then using one of the apps listed above to type, add images and publish their ideas.
Share your ideas in the comments below!  I'd love to see how you help your students celebrate their moms!
