Estimating and Measuring

We used this site with our interactive whiteboard to practice estimating and measuring length.  The kids learned that estimating is making a smart, thoughtful guess.

Hot Chocolate Science







We used this great unit from Cara Carroll to experiment what happens when you mix hot chocolate mix with cold water, and what happens when you mix it with hot water.

Groundhog Day Cupcakes

On Monday, February 3rd, we will make groundhog cupcakes to celebrate our study of Groundhog Day!  This is also a fun time to talk about sequencing of directions.  If you can provide any of the following supplies, please let me know!
- chocolate cupcakes (20)
- chocolate frosting
- mini Nilla wafers
- chocolate chips
- butterscotch chips
- mini marshmallows

Sealants for Smiles!

Dentists and dental hygienists will be visiting our school through the Sealants for Smiles program.  This is a statewide effort to improve the dental health of children by providing cavity-preventing services to children in school.  Information will be sent home this week. Please return the form ASAP to give your child permission to participate in this great program.

If I Lived in a Snowglobe ...

We used a great idea from Deanna Jump and the kids brainstormed ideas about what they would do if they lived in a snowglobe.  They had some great ideas!  Check out what they wrote here.  The art projects turned out very cute!
