Missing Columbia Snowpants

One of the students is missing a pair of Columbia black bib snowpants.  If your child came home with them by mistake, could you please send them back to school?  Thanks so much!

We Were Elfed!

We put the suckers into groups to count.  We arranged them in different groups and the kindergatners figured out how many were missing to make 20.

Christmas Projects

Our gingerbread projects and reindeer from Deanna Jump's unit turned out so cute.  The kindergartners did a great job of writing facts that we learned about reindeer.

Jammy Day

On Friday, December 20th, we will read "The Grinch" and watch the cartoon.  Students are encouraged to wear jammies and have a "cozy day".  :)

Buddy Letters

I am sending home letters from our buddies in Virginia.  If your child wants to write them a letter back, I can make sure their buddy receives it.  Thanks!

Gingerbread Man Experiment

Essential Question: What would have happened if the gingerbread man had swam across the river by himself?

We hypothesized that he might: sink, float, melt, break into pieces, or be crushed.  Then, we tested our hypothesis by putting a gingerbread cookie in water:
The kids observed that he was already beginning to lose his hand and leg, and that the water turned orangey red.

Ways to Make 5

We used the Popplet app to show different ways to make 5.

Play #PiltzMysteryNumber on Twitter with us!  Today we had this number pattern up ... kids had to fill in the missing numbers in the pattern (the red numbers).

Interactive Whiteboard Numbers

We used our interactive whiteboard to practice writing numbers, and the numbers that come before and after.  (i.e. 19 comes before 20 and 21 comes after 20).  You can play along on Twitter @MrsPiltzK or #PiltzMissingNumbers

Stars of the Week!

Book It!

November reading logs were due today - please return completed logs for a pizza coupon.  December logs were sent home today, or you can download one here.

Gingerbread Man Pie Graph

We used Mrs. Jump's awesome gingerbread man unit to make a pie graph today.  We each took a bite of a gingerbread boy cookie, and then graphed which part we bit first.  The kids then analyzed the data from the graph.  Yum!
