Kindergarten Registration

Remember, now is the time to get registered for kindergarten! If you have a little one at home that will be starting kindergarten in the fall of 2011, please register them ASAP. This helps us plan for the appropriate number of teachers. You can register online at Billings Public Schools.

2011 Read-a-Thon!

The Read-A-Thon has started!!! This is a great way to encourage kiddos to read, and raise some $ for the school. Packets went home on Tuesday - if you have any questions, please let me know. This week you should be looking for sponsors. The goal is for kids to read for 5 hours over the two-week program, and we are asking sponsors to contribute $1/hour (so their contribution would be $5). However, a sponsor is welcome to contribute as much as they would like. And if you know of any kids who want to read but would like a sponsor, let me know and I will find a sponsor for them. The class who has the highest number of participation will win a fun prize, and all kids who participate get a free meal coupon from Texas Roadhouse. Yummy!

Kindergarten Registration

Registration is now open to enroll students in kindergarten for the 2011-2012 school year. Registering early really helps us to plan the appropriate number of teachers needed. If you have a child who will start kindergarten in the fall, or know of someone who does, please register as soon as you can. You can stop by the school, or get enrollment forms online here.

Thankful Week

The staff and students of Beartooth School would like to invite you to help us celebrate Thankful Week, November 15th-19th. We encourage guests to participate in a read-in and join us for lunch. We hope you will be able to come in and read with some of our students during our class' time.

Monday, November 15th: 10:40 (read), 11:00 (lunch)

Lunch is $3/adult. The school must have your RSVP at least one day in advance if you are coming.

PLEASE NOTE CHANGE TO SCHEDULE IN NEWSLETTER: SECOND GRADE LUNCHES WILL BE ON THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 18th and THIRD GRADE LUNCHES WILL BE ON WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 17th.

Welcome Back!

The beginning of a brand new year is almost here! School begins on Wednesday, August 25th at 8:25 am. Dismissal time is at 2:30 pm. There is a Meet Your Teacher Night on Monday, August 23rd from 5:00-6:00 pm. Kindergartners and their parents are welcome to bring in school supplies and see our classroom during this time.

Awards

It is always so hard to choose students to give awards to, because there are so many great kids at Beartooth! These pictures are of the students chosen for Student of the Month awards, and the students chosen for our Citizenship Awards. Congratulations to all of you, and keep up the good work!

Field Day

Spring BBQ

The Beartooth Elementary Spring BBQ will be on Tuesday, May 25th. You are welcome to join your child for lunch on this day. We eat lunch at 11:00am. Cost for an adult lunch is $3.00.

A flyer was sent home with your child today, containing more information. If you plan to attend, please return the flyer and your pre-payment by this Friday, May 21st. Thank you!

Thank you to all of the parents who joined us for this fun event on Friday morning! It was a wonderful way to start our day, and it was fun to visit with several of you.

If you are moving over the summer and your child will not be attending Beartooth next year, please let us know. This will help us plan for the appropriate number of 1st grade teachers next year. Thank you!

Beartooth Night at Texas Roadhouse

Eat at Texas Roadhouse on Tuesday, April 6th from 4-10pm, and Beartooth Elementary School will receive a portion of the money you spend! This fundraiser is applicable to both dine-in and carry-out orders. Click here for more information about Texas Roadhouse in Billings.

Read-a-Thon Results

Beartooth Elementary did an amazing job of reading this year!  The students read a total of over 100,000 minutes and earned over $5,000 for our school!  Mrs. Piltz' Kindergartners did a great job of reading, with 8 kids participating and reading a total of 2,338 minutes.  Great job!

Safety Reminder

Please remember that the turn out in front of the school is for daycares and buses only.  Earlier this week we came very close to having a child hurt because of the traffic problems in the turn out.  Daycares pick up children at many different schools, and the drivers cannot leave children in the van to walk over and pick up other children.  Your cooperation in following this simple rule to help keep our children safe is greatly appreciated.

Student Led Conferences

Parent-teacher conferences will be held March 24-26th. School will be dismissed at noon each of these days, to accommodate for conferences from noon-4:00pm. Please watch for a note that will come home with your family's conference day and time. These conferences are unique - your kindergartner should come with you, and will lead the conference by showing you things he has learned in school. This should be a fun time of celebrating all the things your kindergartner has accomplished this year!
