Kindergarten Registration
It is time to register your child for kindergarten next year! If you or someone you know has a child who will start school next year, please stop by the school to get them registered, or visit the Billings Public Schools website for the forms. Early enrollment helps us plan for the appropriate number of teachers for next year.
Thank you!
Thank you!
Mrs. Bell
My last day before going on maternity leave will be Tuesday, March 29th. Mrs. Bell will begin on Wednesday. She will be here for student-led conferences later this week, and this will be a wonderful opportunity for you to meet her. If you have any questions about report cards, you can still reach me by email at piltzt@billingsschools.org. I will respond when I am able.
Mrs. Bell will be able to be reached at bellt@billingsschools.org or by phone at 281-6202.
It has been a joy to get to know you and work with your kids this year! Thank you for all of your support!

Going to the Zoo!

We are excited to go to ZooMontana on Friday the 25th! We will leave school at 9:30 a.m. and return around 1:30 or 2:00 p.m. Kindergartners will eat lunch at the zoo. If you did not return your slip indicating whether or not you will be packing your child a lunch, then a sack lunch was ordered for you.
Remember to dress your child in comfortable clothing and shoes that is appropriate for the weather that day. If you would like to send sunscreen or a water bottle, you are welcome to do so. Sometimes kindergartners like to bring cameras. This is fine, but please remind your son or daughter that they are responsible for taking care of their things.
The cost of admission is $3.25/person. This includes a free "lunch and learn" session with one of the animal handlers. If you are attending as a chaperone, your cost is also $3.25 and you have to COMPLETE THE BACKGROUND PAPERWORK FOR VOLUNTEERS, available from the office.
Cick here for a great song by Raffi about going to the zoo that we have been learning in class!

Dr. Seuss Program

Thanks to all of the friends and family who came to our Dr. Seuss program on Friday! It was a very fun afternoon. Here are some of the treats we enjoyed afterwards - Cat in the Hat cupcakes, Sneech cupcakes and Green Eggs and Ham cupcakes. Thanks to Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Workman for making them, and to Ms. Fischer and Ms. Boucher for the fruit!

Student-led Parent Conferences
The conferences held on March 30th, 31st and April 1st will be student-led parent conferences. This style of conference is very different than the traditional meeting style that was held in the fall. I think you will really enjoy it. Be sure to bring your child to the conference with you, as he or she will lead you around the room and complete tasks at different centers. More than one family may be in the room conducting a conference at the same time. This will give you an idea of how comfortable your child is with these skills, and how he interacts with his peers.
More detailed information will be in your child's red folder on 3/9/11. This will also give you information on when you should plan to attend. To offer flexibility to you, I am not scheduling a specific time. I am asking that you come on a particular day, and have given you a time frame in which to attend. Please plan to stay for around 30 minutes.
Since there will be multiple families in the room at once, we will not have a chance to talk privately about your child. If you have specific concerns that you would like to visit with me about, please contact me to schedule a meeting at another time. If you have any questions at all, please let me know! I look forward to seeing you!
