Class Dojo

Just a reminder that we are using Class Dojo as a mangement tool in our classroom.  The kids really love it, and it's working great.  One great feature is the parent reports that are available.  If I have your email address, you were invited to enter the code and access the weekly parent reports.  If I do not have your email address, please get it to me and I will send you an invitation to access Class Dojo reports.

Live Caterpillars

We have ordered live caterpillars from Insect Lore.  We are so excited to watch them grow and change into butterflies!  We are talking about the process of metamorphosis and will be observing the caterpillars' changes over the next several weeks.

Thank You Education Foundation!

I am so excited to have received a Classroom Grant from the Education Foundation for Billings Public Schools!  With grant funds, we will be receiving an interactive projector to use in our classroom.  This tool will give us more opportunities for hands-on interactive learning during math, reading, writing, centers, calendar ... throughout our day!  We are excited to use this tool in our room.

Making Craters

Today we made "craters" in flour and cocoa using different sized spheres.  We then observed what happened and recorded our thinking on an observation page.  The kids really loved this experiment idea that I got from Cara Carroll

Snack

We are running very low on snack.  If you can send in crackers, cereal, etc so we have some "extra" on hand, that would be helpful.  Also, please remember to check the snack calendar and send in snack on your day.  THANK YOU!

Moon Mania!

Using a super fun unit from Cara Carroll, we have been learning about the moon today and we will continue studying the moon all this week.  In math, we measured different sized moons to see how many "craters" (Cheerios) would fit in each one.  The kindergartners had a difficult time with the concept of "estimating" how many first - but eventually most of them got it!  Some of your kids have some moon measurement homework for tonight.  :)  This could be a fun family project!

Class Dojo

We are beginning a new management program in our class called Class Dojo.  Students can earn positive points for participation and get points deducted for negative behaviors.  If I have your email address, you will receive a weekly report of your kindergartners' behavior.  Once they receive 15 points, they will choose a prize from our prize box and "start over" to earn another prize.  Please let me know if you have any questions.  Have a great weekend!

Dr. Seuss Program

THANK YOU to everyone who was able to attend our Dr. Seuss program on Wednesday.  The kids did such a fantastic job!  If anyone has any photos you would like to share, please email them to me.  I would love to put a few on our website.

A special thank you to those of you who brought in treats, drinks, plates or napkins.  We appreciate your help and support!

Student Led Conferences

Just a reminder that we're having student-led conferences in our room today and tomorrow from 3-5pm.  Bring your kindergartner with you and let them show you some things they are learning in our class.  Hope to see you!
