Very Hungry Caterpillar play

Our Very Hungry Caterpillar play will be on Friday, May 30th at 1:15 pm.  You are welcome to join us!  Your child's "part" went home with him or her yesterday.  Please have her practice reading it LOUDLY and CLEARLY.  :)  Also, thank you to Camryn's mom, Jaci, for offering to make a cupcake caterpillar!  If anyone else can contribute drinks please let me know.

Yay!  Director Ewalt said it will be about two weeks before the tigers are out, as they need time to become acclimated to their new home.  Might be a good time to check out this Groupon and plan a day at the zoo!

Hawthorne Park June 3rd

To celebrate the end of our year together, we will walk to Hawthorne Park to eat lunch and play on June 3rd.  Permission slips will come home next week.  Please let me know if you can provide a treat for our fun day!

Blue at the Zoo

Please have your child wear a Beartooth shirt or a blue shirt to the zoo on Friday.  This could help us keep them separated from other children who may be visiting the zoo that day.  Thanks!

Butterfly Observations Day 21

Zoo Field Trip

If you have not returned your field trip permission slip and money, please do so ASAP.  Cost for students is $6.  (This includes admission, an animal encounter and a treat.)

Thanks to everyone who volunteered to help chaperone our zoo field trip on May 16th.  Cost for chaperones is $2.50.  If you can send it in beforehand, that would be great.  We will pay all together to receive the group rate.  We will leave the school at 9:30 am, or you can meet us at the zoo at 10:00.  Thank you!

Pigeons!

Thanks to the First Grader ... at Last! blog for this cute idea.  Kids had fun making their own pigeons yesterday!  We also graphed who would let the pigeon drive the bus.

Sidewalk Chalk

The weather is getting nicer, and we love going outside and using sidewalk chalk to practice writing and math problems.  If you can donate any chalk to our classroom, it would be appreciated.  Thank you!

Equations

Today during math we practiced writing addition and subtraction equations outside using sidewalk chalk.  We then used a dice roll app on our apps to roll two dice and write addition or subtraction equations for the dice we rolled.  The kids did great!
