BPS Book Club

The first ever BPS Book Club April 4th-May 2nd, 2016!  This idea was derived from the Global Read Aloud, which was created to encourage classrooms throughout the globe to connect by reading a story together.
Our BPS Book Club will focus on connecting classes here in Billings!
This will be a 4-week project that you’ll participate in with your students.  You can choose to join in an author study (and read 4 picture books), or read a chapter book.  Any grade level is welcome to join either the author study or chapter book club.  It is all about conversations with your students and connecting with other classes to share ideas, projects and discussions about these stories.
The author chosen for the author study is Amy Krouse Rosenthal.
She is the author who was chosen for the 2015 Global Read Aloud.  Her stories are fantastic and sparked incredibly imaginative projects and wonderful conversations between students during GRA.  The books we will read are:
Week 1: Chopsticks Week 2: Duck! Rabbit!
Week 3: Exclamation Mark Week 4: Spoon
The chapter book chosen is A Tangle of Knots by Lisa Graff.

Participants have been invited to join our Google Classroom. The Google Classroom will be our “information hub” to share projects about the books and make connections with one another. If you need the class join code, email me. You’ll be encouraged to reach out to other classrooms using Google Hangouts, Skype, Twitter, Seesaw, collaborative Google docs, Padlet … whatever you can think of that allows you to share and connect outside the walls of your classroom! I started a Pinterest board with some ideas related to all of these books. If you have other ideas, please share in the comments below! There are also two Symbaloo webmixes below; one lists Seesaw blog URLs and the other has class website URLs.
