Laugh of the Day

I just had to write what I overheard being discussed this morning while the kindergartners were doing their Morning Work.  One of them said "The dinosaurs were alive a long time ago, you know."  And another said "Everyone knows that."  Then the first kid said "There weren't even any people alive then." And another one of the kids said "My Papa was."  Ha!  :)

Class Pictures & Spring Pictures

Class pictures and spring individual pictures will be taken on Friday, April 12th.  Order forms will go home in your child's red folder tomorrow.  You can also order online at Lifetouch.  The picture day ID is: X1SPEC13NP.

Report Cards

Report cards for quarter 3 will go home on Tuesday the 26th of March.  Please look over the report card, sign the envelope and return it to school with your child.  If you have any questions about your child's report card, please let me know.  Thank you!

The Easter Bunny's Assistant

We have been reading a fun story by Jan Thomas, The Easter Bunny's Assistant, and doing lots of writing, reading and math projects with this story.  Today we made bunny and skunk story hats.  When they wear the hats, have them tell you what happened in this hilarious story.

Dr. Seuss Spirit Day

Student of the Month - March

Congratulations to our Student of the Month!

Lucky Charms Math

Thanks to Emma's mom for bringing in Lucky Charms so we could do Lucky Charms math.  We sorted the marshmallows then practiced addition and subtraction with our marshmallows.  The kids had a great time!

Also a big thank you to Grace's mom for the green St. Patrick's Day cupcakes!

If I Had a Pot of Gold ...

Today we wrote about what we would do if we found a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow.  I was so surprised by some of the answers -what a caring and considerate group of kindergartners!

Prospective Kindergartners

There will be an informational meeting for the parents of prospective kindergartners (for the 2013-14 school year).  This meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 23rd at the Cherry Creek Community Center.  This meeting will provide information on registering for kindergarten, as well as the possibility of moving one of our kindergarten classes to another Heights school next year.  If you know anyone who will have a kindergartner  at Beartooth next year, please tell them about this meeting!  Thank you!

Dr. Seuss Celebration

On our early out day, Wednesday the 27th, we will be having a small Dr. Seuss program at 10:30am.  The kindergartners will sing you a song and read you a couple of poems they have written.  We will also have time to read Dr. Seuss stories together, and TREATS!  We hope you can join us for this fun day!

If you would be willing to make a Dr. Seuss-themed treat for the celebration, it would be VERY appreciated!!  There are so many cute (and easy) ideas on this Pinterest site.  You may also have some ideas of your own.  Please consider helping and let me know if you can bring something and what you plan to make.  There are 19 students in our class, but we typically plan for siblings that may be attending, as well, so if you could make a few extra it would be great.  THANK YOU!

Pigeon Books by Mo Willems

This week we are doing an author study on Mo Willems and reading his pigeon books.  These are always class favorites!  Today we read "The Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog" and graphed what kinds of hot dogs we like.  The kindergartners also made these cute pigeons.  Check out the Pigeon Presents website for lots of fun games and videos.

Fit Kids Club

The Beartooth Fit Kids Club was in The Gazette today!  This has been an excellent program - yay Beartooth!  A huge thank you to Mr. Pfeifle and Mrs. Peel for their hard work!
