Book It! December reading log
Thanks to those of you who returned November reading logs today. I will collect them through next week. If you return a completed log, your child will receive a free pan pizza from Pizza Hut. I apologize for not getting the December reading logs sent home today. They will be in your child's red folder next week. Please keep track of any times read between now and then, so you can record on your child's log when you get it. You can also visit the Book It! website for more resources. Thanks!

Fun Gingerbread Sites
These great sites let the kindergartners decorate their own gingerbread man cookies and houses ... with no mess! :)
The Gingerbread Man with Everything is a free site from Sprint that lets kids decorate their own cookies. Lots of candy choices that can be rotated and moved. Icing choices of different colors and size allow the kindergartners to get very creative!
Here is another fun cookie decorating site.
The Design Your Own Gingerbread House game lets kids make their own gingerbread houses.
Jan Brett's site is very cool.
Here is another great gingerbread house site.
This is a great simple version of the story at Starfall.
This is a great interactive story. This site has lots of great gingerbread retelling and sequencing ideas, just do a search for "gingerbread".

Adult lunch is $3.40 and we will need to know if you are coming by 9:00am on Monday so we can plan accordingly. Thank you!

Happy Fall!
Internet Safety
Mrs. Meyer talked to the kindergartners today about internet safety. She shared the website www.NetSmartzKids.org, which is a great resource. Kindergartners are encouraged to color the sheet she provided (in their Wednesday folders) and visit the internet site with their families.
The Thankful Platefull Project
Your kindergartners will be bringing home information on our Thankful Plateful Project today. Your job is to talk to your kindergartner about what they are thankful for and then decorate their "plateful" of all of those things. We will also do a "Planning Page" writing project at school, where they write about things they are thankful for. They should bring the decorated plates to school by November 19th, but if you are done earlier, please send them in. I have attached a couple of examples.

Friendship Feast
On Tuesday, November
20th, all 4 Kindergarten classes are planning to celebrate Thanksgiving by having
a Friendship Feast. This is an early out
day so we will be dismissed at noon.
School lunch will not be served this day. Our feast of soup, cornbread, and a dessert
will be our lunch instead.
All members of our
classes will bring an ingredient for our feast.
We will combine all of the ingredients to make the soup. Each of our classmates will be assigned to
bring soup ingredients, cornbread, dessert, or drinks. If you are unable to contribute, please let
us know.
A letter will be sent home next week with your ingredient listed. Please bring this item by November 20th.
In order for us to set
up, serve the kindergartners and clean up, we will need lots of parent
volunteers. Volunteers are needed
between 10:00 and 12:00. Please let us
know if you are available to help.
Remember you will need to complete a background check (available through
the office) if you have not already done so. THANK YOU!
