The kindergartners will sing a song, read you a story and share poems they have written. We will also have treats. I hope you can join us for this fun afternoon!
Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. Workman and I are making treats, but we will also need a veggie tray, 2 fruit trays and some juice and cups. If you are willing to provide any of these items, please let me know.
Thank you!

Library Books
We have a big problem with students not returning their library books to school. Students cannot check out a new book unless they return the book they already have. If you cannot find the book, you will need to pay the school for the cost of replacing the book. We go to library each Wednesday (unless it is an early out day), so this is the day books should be returned. It is a good idea to put the book back into your child's backpack after reading it together, or to keep library books in a special place in your home, so they are not lost.
If you have any questions, please contact me at piltzt@billingsschools.org or Mrs. O'Brien, our librarian, at obrienaj@billingsschools.org. Thank you!

Best Snack Ever!
We are eating leftover fresh veggies and dip from our Superbowl party, and the kids are LOVING it. They told me it's the best snack ever! Thanks to Donovan's parents for all of the delicious vegetables.
Zoo Montana Field Trip
On Friday, February 25th, the kindergartners will be traveling to ZooMontana for a field trip and animal encounter. Cost for the field trip is $3.25/student. We will need three chaperones for our class, I will take the first three that volunteer. :) Cost for chaperones is also $3.25/person.
We will leave school at 9:30am (note change from letter I sent home) and return around 2:00pm. Students will eat lunch at ZooMontana, so please plan to pack a lunch for your child, or fill out the form that will be included in your child's Wednesday folder to order a sack lunch from school.
The permission slip, admission fee ($3.25) and lunch form need to be returned to school by Tuesday, February 22nd. If you have any questions, please let me know.

2011 Read-a-Thon!
The Read-A-Thon has started!!! This is a great way to encourage kiddos to read, and raise some $ for the school. Packets went home on Tuesday - if you have any questions, please let me know. This week you should be looking for sponsors. The goal is for kids to read for 5 hours over the two-week program, and we are asking sponsors to contribute $1/hour (so their contribution would be $5). However, a sponsor is welcome to contribute as much as they would like. And if you know of any kids who want to read but would like a sponsor, let me know and I will find a sponsor for them. The class who has the highest number of participation will win a fun prize, and all kids who participate get a free meal coupon from Texas Roadhouse. Yummy!
Happy reading!

We're on Facebook!
Benette Johnson, one of our awesome room moms, has created a Facebook page to keep parents connected. If you're on Facebook, search for "Mrs. Piltz's Class" to join the group!
Groundhog Day
We graphed if the kindergartners think spring will be early or late, then made an art project and added our prediction. We will find out tomorrow who made the right prediction!
There are also some fun activities for kids here.
Big Sky Fit Kids
Thanks to Benette Johnson, who signed up our class to participate in the Big Sky Fit Kids program! Big Sky Fit Kids is a FREE activity and nutrition program for Montana youth. Tally sheets will be sent home in your child's red folder to keep track of their activity and amount of fruits and vegetables they eat each month (Feb, March and April). This should be fun for the kids! For more information, click here.
