Super Bowl Party

The Super Bowl party, hosted by Tami Workman and Bennette Johnson, is postponed until this Friday, February 4th. Thanks to those of you who have already sent in supplies! Remember to have your kindergartner wear their favorite team colors to school on Friday. We will graph our favorite teams.

Friday is also when we will celebrate our 100th day of school. We will practice counting to 100 several times throughout the day. It should be a very fun day in kindergarten!

Thank you!

A HUGE thank you to all of the parents who contributed supplies for our "Family Fun Night" basket, that was raffled at the carnival. I appreciate your support! Also, a thank you to the parents who stepped in to help run our Sucker Pull booth in my absence, due to a death in the family. It is a joy to be a part of the Beartooth Family, and be surrounded by such caring and helpful people. Thank you!

Star of the Week

The Star of the Week this week is Antoine! Antoine did a great job on his poster (he made a pattern on the letters!) and brought in his DSi XL for show and tell. Thanks, Antoine!

Hide and Seek Game

The kindergartners enjoyed playing a math game today called "Hide and Seek". They needed to roll a die, then move their marker that many spaces. When they landed on a number, they needed to say what the number was, and write the number on their white board. This was a fun way to practice identifying numbers 10-31!

Thanks to PTA for the magazines!

Thanks to the Beartooth PTA, our kindergartners have been enjoying their own subscription of "Time for Kids" magazine each week. They love reading these, and hopefully you are enjoying reading them together at home and doing the activities each week. Thanks, PTA!

Some ideas are: popcorn, snacks, gift cards for pizza, board games, DVDs, movie gift certificates, etc. I will need all items by Wednesday, January 26th. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT! Do you like cocoa with marshmallows?

To practice the word do we graphed if we like our hot chocolate with marshmallows or not. The kids graphed "yes, I do" or "no, I do not." Most definitely like marshmallows!

Star of the Week

The Star of the Week this week is Jass. Jass brought in a great poster, and cute stuffed animals for her show and tell.

Kindergarten Registration

Registration is now open to enroll students in kindergarten for the 2011-2012 school year. Registering early really helps us to plan the appropriate number of teachers needed. If you have a child who will start kindergarten in the fall, or know of someone who does, please register as soon as you can. You can stop by the school, or get enrollment forms online here.

January Snack Calendar

I apologize for the mistake on the January snack calendar - I neglected to note that January 17th is a no school day to observe Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Sorry for any confusion!

Penguins Everywhere!

This week we have been learning about penguins. The kindergartners have loved learning about these interesting birds. We made these cute penguin pictures, and wrote sentences with facts that we learned about penguins. We decorated them with puffy "snow" (part shaving cream, part glue). This was a project the kids loved!

Star of the Week

Danika is our Star of the Week this week. Danika brought in pictures from her trip to Disneyland for Show and Tell! The kindergartners LOVED hearing about her fun trip!

Snowpants, etc.

One student has lost a pair of girls’ brown size 6 snowpants from Target. If you happen to have them at home, please send back to school. It is very helpful if you write your child’s name and phone # inside their winter clothing, as we share a hallway with three other classes and things often get “mixed up”. Also, remind your son or daughter to keep track of their things as best as they can, by hanging them on their coat hook and keeping hats, gloves, etc. in coat pockets or sleeves. Thank you!
